There are seven continents in the world. These are Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. Each continent is a large landmass on the earth’s surface that is distinct from the others in terms of geology, culture, and history.
North America is located in the Northern Hemisphere and is mostly in the Western Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south. It is located between South America and Europe/Africa. It includes countries such as Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
South America is a continent located in the Western Hemisphere, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and the Caribbean Sea to the north. It is located south of North America, and it is mostly to the west of Central America and the Caribbean. It is also located south of the equator, which is an imaginary line that runs around the Earth. It is made up of twelve independent countries and one overseas department of France.
Europe is located in the Northern Hemisphere and the Eastern Hemisphere. Europe is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. To the east, Europe is connected to Asia by the Ural Mountains and the Caucasus Mountains. It is the second smallest continent by surface area and is located mostly in the Western Hemisphere and mostly in the Northern Hemisphere.
Asia is a continent located east of Europe, north of Australia and south of North America. It is the largest continent in the world and is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the east, and the Indian Ocean to the south. The countries in Asia are diverse, it ranges from the Middle East to the Far East, from Russia to India. Asia is also bordered by Africa on the west.
Africa is a continent located in the Eastern Hemisphere, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. It is the second largest continent in the world and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Indian Ocean to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north. Africa is also bordered by Europe to the northeast and Asia to the east across the Suez Canal.
Oceania is a region located in the Pacific Ocean that includes a group of islands and countries. It is often considered to include Australasia (Australia and New Zealand) and the Malay Archipelago (Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea) along with the islands of the Pacific Ocean, such as Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia. Oceania is located southeast of Asia, east of Africa, and south of North and South America. It is also bordered by the Indian Ocean to the west and the Southern Ocean to the south.
Antarctica is a continent located in the Southern Hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle. It is the southernmost continent and surrounds by the Southern Ocean. It is a vast, remote and inhospitable place, mostly covered by ice and known for its extreme cold temperatures. It is located at the bottom of the world map, and it is not considered to be part of any particular country or region but it is governed by the Antarctic Treaty.
